Our Sub-Zero stopped cooling and I was panicking about losing all our food. Vlad came same day with the parts already in his van. Fixed it in under an hour. This is what real service looks like. Highly recommend!

Questions
General
How quickly can you come out for a repair?
In most cases, we offer same-day service. If you call in the morning, our technician can usually be there by the afternoon. We’re available 7 days a week, and our phone line is open 24/7 for scheduling.
Do you work on all appliance brands or just high-end?
While we specialize in Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, and BlueStar, we also repair other premium brands like Miele, Bosch, GE Monogram, Dacor, and Gaggenau. Our expertise is specifically in high-end appliances where quality and precision matter most.
What’s included in the $89 service call?
The $89 covers our technician’s visit to your home plus a complete diagnostic assessment. We identify the problem and give you an upfront quote for the repair. If you proceed with the repair, the $89 is waived — you only pay for parts and labor.
Do you use genuine manufacturer parts?
100% yes. We only use factory-approved, genuine OEM parts. Never aftermarket. This ensures your appliance performs like new and maintains its warranty. Our technicians carry a large inventory of Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Viking parts in their service vehicles for same-day repairs.
What warranty do you provide?
All repairs come with a 1-year warranty on both parts and labor. For major work like sealed system rebuilds or compressor replacements, we offer extended warranties up to 5 years. We stand behind our work completely.
Why should I choose you over a big company?
With Smith Appliance, you get a dedicated team of certified specialists — not a random dispatcher or whoever’s available. Our technicians have 11+ years of experience, 7+ focused exclusively on high-end brands. We personally handle every call, send you photos during the repair, and follow up afterward. Large national chains can’t offer that level of personalized service.
What areas do you service?
We serve all of San Diego County and Orange County. This includes La Jolla, Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Irvine, and all surrounding communities.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — we are fully licensed and insured. We provide our license details to customers on request before work begins.
Questions
By brand
Sub-Zero: Is it worth repairing a fifteen-year-old Sub-Zero?
Usually yes. These units were built for a twenty-plus year service life and the parts are still made. The honest exception is a failed sealed system on a unit that also has a tired condenser and hinges — we tell you when that arithmetic stops working rather than selling the repair.
Sub-Zero: Do you carry Sub-Zero parts on the van?
We carry the common Sub-Zero failure parts — fans, thermistors, heaters, gaskets, ice maker components — which is why 98% of jobs finish on the first visit. Sealed system components and boards are ordered to the specific model.
Sub-Zero: How long does a sealed system repair take?
Typically one visit, several hours, and it is covered for up to five years. It is the one Sub-Zero job where the technician’s brazing matters more than the part.
Wolf: My Wolf oven bakes unevenly. Is that normal for a convection oven?
No. Uneven browning on a Wolf usually means the temperature sensor has drifted or the convection fan has slowed. Both are diagnosable in one visit with a calibration check.
Wolf: Can you repair the range and the cooktop on the same call?
Yes — and we would rather do that than book twice. Tell us both faults when you call so the van is stocked for both.
Wolf: Do you descale steam ovens?
Yes. In this water it is maintenance, not repair, and it is far cheaper than the boiler replacement it prevents.
Viking: My Viking oven takes forty minutes to light. Is that dangerous?
It is the classic sign of a weakening glow-bar igniter, and it should be dealt with rather than lived with: gas is being released for longer than it should before ignition. It is a routine same-day repair.
Viking: Do you service Viking outdoor grills and refrigeration?
Yes. Coastal installations in particular need attention to corrosion on burners and condensers.
Viking: Are Viking parts hard to get?
Common wear parts are stocked. Anything model-specific is ordered against your model and serial number, and you will know the price and the date before we leave.
Thermador: My Thermador shows an error code. Can you tell me what it is over the phone?
Often, yes — read us the code when you call and we can usually tell you what it points at and what the likely repair costs before we come out.
Thermador: Is one dead induction zone a whole new cooktop?
Rarely. It is normally that zone’s coil or its section of the board. Get it diagnosed before accepting a replacement quote.
Thermador: Do you service Thermador dishwashers as well as cooking?
Yes, and refrigeration too — the whole line, on one call.
BlueStar: Can open burners be cleaned rather than replaced?
Almost always. Blocked ports are the single most common BlueStar complaint and cleaning is part of the repair, not an extra.
BlueStar: Is BlueStar harder to get parts for than Sub-Zero or Wolf?
It is a smaller manufacturer, so fewer parts ride on the van, but the parts themselves are straightforward and available. You will know the part, the price and the date before we leave.
BlueStar: Do you work on the outdoor grills?
Yes — and coastal corrosion on burners and igniters is worth catching before a season rather than during one.

The answer to most of these is the same
Built-in equipment is designed to be serviced inside its cabinetry, through the grille and the service panels. Almost nothing has to come out.

What Our Customers Say
Real reviews from real customers across San Diego and Orange County.
He was at my house in less than 30 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the issue and ordered the part. My machine was up and running in 2 days when I had anticipated a 1-2 week wait. I can’t recommend him enough!
Vlad solved an issue with our fridge that we have had ever since we bought it. No one else had been able to figure it out — zero water pressure from fridge as well as a broken ice machine. Would call him again for any future appliance fixes!
