Reading a Thermador fault code

A code is a reading, not a diagnosis — and it is right often enough to be dangerous, because what it names is the sensor rather than the reason that sensor is seeing something odd. So the order matters: read the code, test the component it accuses, then decide. ExtraLow simmer burners cycling wrong
The simmer function pulses the burner rather than running it low; when the control or its sensor drifts, the pulse goes wrong and food scorches or never heats. It reads as a burner fault and is usually a control one.
Wall oven not heating or failing self-clean
Element, relay board, or a door latch that has not fully released after a clean cycle. The latch is the one people never guess and it locks the oven out entirely.

Is one dead induction zone a whole new cooktop?
Rarely. It is normally that zone’s coil or its section of the board rather than the whole surface. Get it diagnosed before accepting a replacement quote — Smith Appliance Repair will tell you which it is on (949) 979-4880.
