Almost every ice maker complaint is water, not ice.
The ice maker is the most-replaced and least-diagnosed component in the trade. It is a simple machine — fill, freeze, harvest — and when it stops, the fault is usually upstream of the part everyone replaces.
Hollow or undersized cubes mean the fill is short: pressure, a partly frozen fill tube, or a valve not opening fully. No ice at all means harvest: the module, the thermostat, or the motor. Those are two different repairs, and swapping the module for a low-pressure problem changes nothing except the invoice.
Symptoms

Water supply. We measure pressure at the inlet valve before touching the module.
The module, thermostat or motor — the harvest side. The freezer being cold proves the refrigeration is fine.
The filter, or ice that has been sitting long enough to absorb cabinet odours. Both are solvable and neither needs a new ice maker.
A split fill line or a drain iced closed. On undercounter machines the drain pump is a common culprit.
Harvest cycling too often, or warm air entering past a seal and re-freezing. It is a fault, not just an annoyance.
Condenser airflow first — these are installed in tight cabinetry and the condenser blocks quickly in a kitchen.
