Washer & Dryer Repair
A dryer that takes three cycles is not tired. It is restricted, and it is a fire risk.
Laundry is where the cheapest repair with the largest consequence lives. A dryer taking two or three cycles to finish is almost never a failing heater — it is airflow: lint in the duct, a crushed run, or a blocked outside vent. That restriction is also the most common cause of dryer fires.
On the washing side, the faults that matter are drainage and bearings. A machine that will not drain is usually a pump or a blockage. A machine that has started to roar on the spin cycle is a bearing, and that one has a window in which it is still worth repairing.
Symptoms
What it usually turns out to be

Dryer taking two or three cycles
Airflow restriction — duct, lint trap housing, or the outside vent flap. We check the full run, not just the trap.
Dryer runs but produces no heat
Element, thermal fuse or gas valve. A blown thermal fuse is usually a symptom of the airflow problem above, so we look for both.
Washer will not drain
Pump, filter or a blocked hose. Often something that went through a pocket.
Loud on spin, or drum play
Bearings. There is a window where this is worth repairing and a point past which it is not — we will tell you which side of it you are on.
Washer not filling or filling slowly
Inlet valve or supply pressure. Worth checking the supply taps before booking anything.
Cycle stops mid-way with a code
Door lock, pressure sensor or control. We read the code and verify.
If your dryer smells hot or the outside vent is not blowing, stop using it and call. That one is not worth waiting on.
