Wine Cooler & Wine Column Repair

On wine storage a two-degree drift is a fault, not a tolerance — and the contents are usually worth more than the appliance.

Wine storage is the one refrigeration category where customers can quantify what a failure costs, because the cellar has a value. It is also the category where units are most often left running out of specification for months, because nothing looks wrong: the lights are on, the door is cold, the display says 55°F.

Dual-zone columns add a second evaporator and a second set of failure points. A red zone holding perfectly while the white zone climbs is the wine-storage equivalent of the warm-fridge-cold-freezer pattern, and it points at that zone’s circuit rather than at the compressor.

Symptoms

What it usually turns out to be

Find your symptom below and you will know roughly what to expect before we arrive.

One zone correct, the other drifting

That zone’s evaporator, its fan or its damper. The working zone proves the compressor and the sealed system are alive.

Temperature reading right, bottles warm

A sensor reporting from the wrong place, or air not circulating past the racks. We measure at bottle level, not at the display.

Condensation inside the glass door

Door seal or the glass heater circuit that keeps the pane above dew point. Left alone it damages labels and the door frame.

Compressor short-cycling

Usually a control or sensor fault. Short-cycling swings the cabinet temperature far more than the average reading suggests.

Vibration you can feel through the rack

Compressor mounts or a fan out of balance. Vibration matters more here than in any other appliance we service.

UV-tinted door no longer sealing flush

Hinge adjustment. Heavy glass doors settle over the years and the seal goes before anything electrical does.

If a cellar is at risk we will tell you honestly whether to move the bottles before we start work.
